The final day of Earth Day Week is not a broadcast, it's about you getting involved.

This day is hosted by Hack for Future and we invite you to a digital and interactive climate hackathon. We’re expecting up to 300 people from all over the world to join us online and work in small groups to explore ways to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

If you’re interested in communication, design, technology and sustainability, let’s get together with like minded people and discuss ideas and projects about how we all can solve the climate crisis.

We welcome all creative people. You don't have to be a computer programmer to contribute.

Organizers welcome everyone and introduce the program for the day. You need to download the zoom.us client to participate.

15:45 CEST /  9:45 am EST - Open collaboration using the Hack for Future Discord server

The main part of the event is about discussing new ways to raise awareness about the climate crisis. This will happen in smaller groups who collaborate using the community platform Discord. There are two main ways to use Discord, and here are some details on how you could collaborate with your team:

# = Text channels that are just like normal chat rooms.

• Suitable for longer discussions with many participants, sharing links and files and keeping a chat history.
• Used to organize projects between events.

🔊 = Voice channels that work similar to group  rooms on a physical event:

• It’s easy to get an overview of all discussions in progress by looking to the left of the Discord interface.
• It’s easy to join different discussions by just clicking on that voice channel
• It’s possible to share your screen to participants
• You can see who’s in a room before entering
• Each group can have separate discussions in parallel

• Organizers share their personal highlights from the event
• Participants are encouraged to share their experience of the event, their results and what any next steps to continue their projects.

What happens after the Earth Week Climate Hackathon

• A summary of the day and what we’ve created together
• Participants are encouraged to keep working on their projects on the Hack for Future Discord server, to support each other
• Moderators will create project channels for promising projects, to give their teams a way of communicating after the event.
• A smaller digital climate hackathon will be organized with the Hack for Future network in May, inviting participants from to stay in touch and keep making progress with projects.

Hack For Future is a network of individuals who like hackathons and creating meeting places where people from different backgrounds can learn and get creative. Since October 2019, we’ve organized 4 climate hackathons: 3 physical and 1 digital. Hack For Future is a non-profit initiative, working with partners like We Don’t Have Time, 46elks and Swedish Internet Foundation.
