Céline Bak

Céline Bak is an expert on energy, finance and innovation with 30 years of international business, research and policy experience in more than 25 countries. Her work spans management consulting to Fortune 500 companies as an Associate Partner with Kearney, research in global energy markets, sustainable investment and public policy for national governments.

In 2018, she was knighted as a Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by President Emmanuel Macron for mobilizing the private sector in the run-up to the Paris Agreement which commitments she endeavours to support in her public- and private-sector engagements.

Céline is the Founder and President of Analytica Advisors, a consulting firm engaged in building global capital markets for sustainability leaders among both long-term investors and companies. It focuses on financial and technical innovation for its clients the world over.

She is frequently called upon by major media companies, including CNN Money, Agence France Press, Reuters and the New York Times, as well as Canada’s media outlets, from radio and television to print journalism.

Céline is an ambassador for women under the global Equal by 30 Initiative.  Her public service includes sitting as a director of Emissions Reduction Alberta where she is the Chair of the Audit, Finance and Investment Committee, and chairing the Core Evaluation Team of Genome Canada's Genomic Applications Partnership Program. Her leadership roles have included Chair of the Clean Technology Private Sector Advisory Group and senior advisor for Global Affairs Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service.

She is a senior associate at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) where she leads research on sustainable finance.  As a past senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation she conducted research on innovation, infrastructure and served as co-chair of the Think Tank 20 (T20) Climate Policy and Finance Task Force

As the President of Analytica Advisors, in 2007 she recognized that innovation-based industries were poorly represented through existing primary economic research. In order to change this, she authored and published seven annual evidence-based national reports that have catalyzed the growth of Canada's emerging energy and water technology industry. Her research changed the investment and policy landscape, and has formed the basis of tens of billions of dollars in catalytic public investment.

She and her husband Antonio Cazorla Sanchez have three daughters.  Céline is fluent in Spanish as well as both of Canada’s official languages.

Angela St. Aubin

Angela has served as the research analyst for Analytica Advisors since 2013, working as part of  the team that produces the annual Canadian Clean Technology Industry Report.

Angela performs both primary and secondary research for the annual report and other consulting projects, including: questionnaire design;  survey programming, testing and technical support;  sample management (invitations, screeners, reminders);  data entry, cleaning and coding;  data analysis and graphing; and creating presentations and custom reports.

She is additionally involved in facilitating industry engagement, managing this website, Analytica's social media sites, CRM  and e-commerce platforms.

Angela completed a graduate program in Marketing Research and Business Intelligence at Algonquin College's School of Business, graduating with honours.  She interned as a research associate at the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, where she provided research and editorial support on international tourism labour market statistics projects, including a paper for the UN's ILO.

Ryan Perks

Ryan Perks is an editor of nonfiction books, articles, reports, and dissertations, whose work history combines an extensive grounding in graduate-level writing and research with seven years’ experience as a freelance copy editor of both academic (history, political science, sociology, economics, and finance) and trade (memoir, reportage, travel writing) manuscripts for a variety of university presses and individual clients in Canada and the UK.  He has a BA and an MA from Trent University, and is a member of Editors Canada.

Ryan provides editorial feedback on Analytica's various publications and writing projects, from the annual Canadian Clean Technology Industry Report to op-eds in some of Canada's leading newspapers.

Michael Thompson

Michael provides report writing and editorial support to Analytica Advisers. He works on the drafts of the annual Canadian Clean Technology Industry Report. He also prepares summaries, speaking notes, briefing papers and background materials for media and report participant use.

Michael has a BA in English from the University of Hull, an MA in Communications Planning from the University of Wolverhampton and an MBA from the University of Bath, all in England. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Internal Communications. He has consulted on and produced communications programs for pubic bodies and large corporations for over 25 years.

Aliya Jiwan-Thawer

Aliya is an award-winning journalist who spent nearly a decade working as a television and radio news reporter, anchor and producer with the CBC, CTV and CP24 in Edmonton, Ottawa, Halifax and Toronto and gained valuable work experience at the CBC bureau in London, England and at SABC in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Following a successful journalism career, she transitioned into the world of public relations where she worked in large and boutique PR agencies before launching her own PR consulting firm, AJT Communications. Over the years she has created and executed media relations campaigns in a variety of industries including financial, health, IT, education, childcare, corporate and non-profit sectors.

She has also successfully launched television programs, products and charities, helped to commemorate corporate milestones, media trained hundreds of spokespeople, ghostwritten articles, planned and managed events and positively positioned clients to help raise their profile and drive their bottom line.

For Analytica Advisors, she developed and executed the media relations campaigns for the 2016 and 2017 launches of the annual Clean Technology Report,  securing media interviews with several national media outlets including BNN, CTV Power Play, CBC, The Canadian Press, Globe and Mail, etc.

She has a Bachelor of Journalism and Political Science (Combined Honours) from Carleton University and active volunteer in the community.
